Bachchanalia released at the Jaipur Literature Festival on 23 Jan 2009

Festivity and anticipation reached a crescendo on 23 January when the Publishing Division of
Osian’s released their inaugural book Bachchanalia: The Films and Memorabilia of Amitabh
Bachchan at the Jaipur Literature Festival. The book was released by Amitabh Bachchan in the presence of an overwhelming gathering of media, festival attendees, school children and the general public.
A unique conversation between Mr. Neville Tuli and Mr. Bachchan brought forth various facets of
Mr. Bachchan’s personality as he shared his experiences and thoughts on various subjects,
followed by an interesting and interactive session with the audience. At the Jaipur Literature Festival, to catch a glimpse of Amitabh Bachchan, some people had climbed on to the terrace. A young lady screamed from there – “Sir, aap filmon main nahin hotey to kahan hotey?”
“Wahan hotey jahan aap hain,” pat came the reply.

Osian’s launches its Publishing House with the release of Bachchanalia in Mumbai on 3 Jan 2009

Bachchanalia was released successfully at the launch of Osian’s full-fledged Publishing and Design House in Mumbai on 3 Jan 2009 at NCPA in Mumbai by Guest of Honour, Aamir Khan. Amitabh Bachchan who graced the occasion along with Jaya Bachchan, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was felicitated with a tribute paid to his remarkable career spanning four decades by Mani Kaul, Aamir Khan, Neville Tuli and Bhawana Somaaya. A unique and invigorating session between Mr. Neville Tuli, Founder-Chairman, Osian’s and Mr. Bachchan on various artistic and educational issues was also held post the launch. It was overwhelming to witness a book launch of such magnitude for the sheer number of people and media the event attracted.

"Since I come from a film family, we had copies of Filmfare magazine which carried pictures of young actors struggling to make a mark in the industry. As a kid, I recall laughing with disdain at some pictures of young people who were aspiring to become actors. As I grew up, I hung my head in shame that one of the picture which I laughed at was that of Amitabh Bachchan," said Aamir Khan at the launch in Mumbai.
